ARTIST: SUSAN CARTER HALL

ARTIST: SUSAN CARTER HALL

Los Angeles artist Susan Carter Hall is a painter who you'll find in her Arlington Heights studio and home, most often with a paintbrush in hand.

Her upcoming gallery showing entitled "Metamorphosis" is an apt description for her most recent work which undergoes various layers of manipulation before settling into its final form. With fanciful childhood musing represented in the show's largest piece entitled "The Day Sylvester Lost His Magic Pebbles in the Fun House" (below) to darker and deeper psychological symbolism in "Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda" this talented artist explores the human experience and the metamorphoses that we go through on this journey.

Be sure to catch her show at Prohibition Gallery in Culver City running through December 19th.

Read on to hear more about her canine companion, lust for the island life, the importance of collaboration and her choice wine picks for a last meal.

MOST KNOWN FOR: Painter

HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR COFFEE? BREW METHOD?

French press with a strong splash of half and half.

NAME SOMETHING YOU LOVE.

My dog, because it's impossible not too.

WHAT IS KEY TO YOUR PROCESS?

Showing up.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM PROJECT?

So, so many. But all involve collaborating.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE?

Goat Island, Tobago.

ON YOUR DEATHBED, LAST MEAL IN LA?

My last meal would be large: Start with a Blanco Taco from Homestate in Hollywood, along with a Shreebs coffee, some Little Dom's Wood Oven Roasted Tomatoes on the side, the Orecchiette from Osteria Mozza, and the Farro Salad from Bestia. Desert would be the Budino from McCall's. I'd also choose a rosé from Domaine LA, a funky white wine of the proprietors choice from Lou, and an Argentinian red from Silverlake Wine.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOUR WORK?
I have a show at Prohibition Gallery in Culver City running through December 19th.

Otherwise you can find me and my work in my studio in Arlington Heights.
