ARTIST: PRISCILLA WITTE

Our very own muralist.

ARTIST: PRISCILLA WITTE

Meet Priscilla Witte, the talent behind the mural inside our Arts District coffee container.

A denizen of Venice Beach, Witte is strongly influenced by her surroundings of skate and sea, along with music legends, art and design. The LA centric artist has work all over town, if you want to find it, take a stroll down Abbott Kinney and pretty much bet you’re gonna find a P. Witte somewhere!

Learn more about her latest collaboration with Taylor Swift, her love for sweet potato fries, and her plan to mural around the globe!

HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR COFFEE? BREW METHOD?

Cortado with almond milk, por favor. I also appreciate a good cold brew!

NAME SOMETHING YOU LOVE.
I love my mom. She's pretty awesome. The sweetest, nicest, most beautiful woman inside and out that I've ever met. I can only hope I'm as nice as her. That may not be possible, but I try.

WHAT IS KEY TO YOUR PROCESS?
Um, I'm crazy! Hah. My day goes like this: emails, think, draw, clear my head bike ride, draw, beverage. I like to come up with ideas that I find interesting, or that people can relate to. I love different visual perspectives.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM PROJECT?
So many dream projects! I'd love to do illustration work for a bunch of my favorite magazines. The New Yorker, Lucky Peach, Juxtapoz, Wallpaper, The New York Times Magazine. All of those and more. I'd also love to do murals across the globe. I want to take my drawings and make them larger scale. Make my mark. Travel.

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE?
Man, the struggle! I was just visiting NYC, and I've always wanted to live in that city for a bit. I love it there. I want to be surrounded by other artists and people that inspire me. London could be cool too. I grew up in the country/woods of upstate NY, so I can't help but love and miss nature. Being on a quiet lake working sounds pretty freaking awesome. I guess the future plans are: Travel/Be bicoastal.  We'll see where life takes me.

ON YOUR DEATHBED, LAST MEAL IN LA?

This is so hard! I'd probably house a Hal's turkey burger. Grilled onions, Jack cheese, extra chipotle sauce. RIP Hal's. If you know, you know. Sweet potato fries, please.

WHERE CAN WE FIND YOUR WORK?
You can find it on the inside of Shreebs DTLA Arts District, mofos! Haha... I'll take any opportunity to put my art on any canvas or object that I'm presented with! I once did a mural backdrop for the mayor of Las Vegas' holiday card shoot. I've done a lot of work up and down Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice, California. I've designed a surfboard, made a coloring book for Superba Food and Bread, designed a sign for the Teen Choice Awards, and most recently worked on a woman's empowerment campaign with Keds shoes. You name it. I'll do it!
